Jobs and Volunteering Opportunities
Off the Record is a warm, welcoming place to work. As a frontline mental health service for young people across Croydon, Merton and Sutton, we're passionate about what we do — and the people who do it with us.
Join our team and you'll be part of something that genuinely matters: a dynamic, community-rooted service making a real difference to young people's lives. On this page you'll find our latest vacancies, volunteering opportunities, counselling placements and trustee positions.
Our Team
We have a dedicated team of over 70 paid staff (many working part-time), supported by funding from a range of sources including South West London and St Georges Mental Health NHS Trust, the London Boroughs of Croydon, Merton, and Sutton, and the Wimbledon Foundation. Whilst many staff are based within our borough services, we're increasingly creating opportunities to work across boroughs — including through our new First Contact team.
We believe our people are our greatest asset. That's why we invest in proper support, training and management for everyone in our team. Many of our staff have been with us for years — including a good number who first came to us as volunteers or trainees. Everyone has access to regular internal and external training, as well as benefits including a workplace pension and store discounts.
Safeguarding
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All successful applicants will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Equal Opportunities
Off the Record is committed to equality of opportunity. To reflect the diversity of the communities we serve, we actively welcome applications from all backgrounds — particularly individuals from black and minority ethnic communities.

Trustees
Trustees are essential to the governance and successful operation of Off the Record (OTR), ensuring we deliver high-quality services to our community. The Board of Trustees manages the affairs of OTR through in-person meetings and sub-committees, adhering to government legislation, processes, and procedures. Our responsibilities include setting the overall strategic direction of the charity, delegating responsibilities to senior staff, overseeing the charity’s progress in meeting its objectives, reviewing significant risks, ensuring the charity meets its legal and financial obligations.
We are seeking individuals to join our Board who are committed to improving youth mental health in South West London, passionate about youth issues, eager to learn and ask questions, and possess strong communication and basic numeracy skills. Expertise and interest in areas such as youth work, finance, fundraising, HR, recruitment, diversity and inclusion, strategy, law, operations, marketing, communications, or mental health services are highly valued. In return, trustees gain valuable governance and leadership experience, develop new skills, expand their professional network, and make a lasting impact on young people’s lives.
