Off the Record is a lively and friendly place to work. We’re on the frontline of mental health services in Croydon, Sutton and Merton. We have a committed team of around 75 paid staff (many part-time) and our work is funded through a variety of sources including Croydon, Sutton & Merton CCGs, London Boroughs of Croydon & Sutton and the Wimbledon Foundation. Some staff are based in our borough-based services but increasingly staff are being given opportunities to work in across-borough initiatives such as our new first contact team.
We recognise our staff are our greatest asset and we invest in ensuring staff are supported, trained and managed in their role. Many of our staff have been worked with us for several years including a substantial number who originally started working with us as volunteers or trainees. Staff have access to regular internal and external training opportunities and to staff benefits including a company pension and store discounts.

Mental Health Practitioner
We’re currently recruiting full time or part time Mental Health Practitioners to work directly with young people in our schools Mental Health Teams. For this post you need to have a mental health qualification and at least two years’ experience of working with young people. We are also looking for people with an open and flexible attitude; excellent engagement skills and a passion for working with children and young people around mental health.
Responsibilities include offering a flexible range of short-term and longer-term mental health interventions to primary and secondary aged children and young people including individual and group-based support; workshops; crisis support; mental health themed activities. The posts have scope and opportunity for developing new initiatives and ways of working to support young people’s mental health across South London.

Peer Support Workers
We’re currently recruiting two full-time Peer Support Workers to work in our Sutton and Merton offices.
These 2 posts are part of a partnership between local voluntary sector organisations and South West London and St George’s Mental Health Trust. Both posts focus on offering a range of emotional, social and practical wellbeing support to young adults aged 18-25. These posts do not require a formal mental health qualification. The Peer Support Worker posts are designated for those with their own lived experience of mental health challenges who have reached a point in their recovery where they feel ready to support others on their mental health journey.
For these roles you need to have an open and flexible attitude; an understanding of mental health; excellent engagement skills and a passion for working with young people. All posts are full-time office based and will require flexible working across service areas and interventions and will involve some regular evening and/or weekend work to meet the needs of young people.

Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP)
We’re currently recruiting a full time Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) to work directly with young people in our Mental Health Support Team (MHST). For this post you need to have a Undergraduate degree, second class or above, in a mental health of child development related subject (e.g., Psychology, Education, Childhood development, Social Work etc), OR any subject with further training or experience in a relevant field (e.g., Teaching/TA; Learning Support; HCA; Youth Work; etc). We are also looking for people with an open and flexible attitude; excellent engagement skills and a passion for working with children and young people around mental health.
Responsibilities include offering a CBT based self-guided mental health interventions to primary and secondary aged children and young people and their families including individual and group-based support; workshops; crisis support; mental health themed activities. Responsibilities include offering a CBT based self-guided mental health interventions to young people and their families including individual, parent-led and group-based support; workshops; crisis support; mental health themed activities.
All posts are based on-site and may require flexibility to work across different service areas and interventions. Some evening and/or weekend work may be necessary to meet the needs of young people.
This is a training position - the post holder will undertake training at Kings College London alongside working in service for Off The Record. Applicants will need to be ready to start work in early/mid-January 2026 and posts cannot be offered to candidates unless they can guarantee this start date.

Becoming a Trustee
Trustees are essential to the governance and successful operation of Off the Record (OTR), ensuring we deliver high-quality services to our community. The Board of Trustees manages the affairs of OTR through in-person meetings and sub-committees, adhering to government legislation, processes, and procedures. Our responsibilities include setting the overall strategic direction of the charity, delegating responsibilities to senior staff, overseeing the charity’s progress in meeting its objectives, reviewing significant risks, ensuring the charity meets its legal and financial obligations.
We are seeking individuals to join our Board who are committed to improving youth mental health in South West London, passionate about youth issues, eager to learn and ask questions, and possess strong communication and basic numeracy skills. Expertise and interest in areas such as youth work, finance, fundraising, HR, recruitment, diversity and inclusion, strategy, law, operations, marketing, communications, or mental health services are highly valued. In return, trustees gain valuable governance and leadership experience, develop new skills, expand their professional network, and make a lasting impact on young people’s lives.
